Nugenix’s free-testosterone formula in a 30-capsule size — roughly a ten-day run at the label serving. A trial, not a course.

What is actually in it

Straight from the label: L-citrulline malate (2:1), Tesnor — a proprietary blend of pomegranate peel extract and cocoa bean extract — and tribulus fruit extract, in a gelatin capsule with magnesium stearate.

Two things we are going to tell you that the box will not

Tesnor is a proprietary blend. That means Nugenix discloses the total weight of the blend but not how much pomegranate and how much cocoa is in it. It is legal and it is common, and it also means you cannot compare this against anything else on a dose-for-dose basis. We say elsewhere on this site that we think proprietary blends are a way of hiding how little of the expensive ingredient is in there. That applies here too.

Tribulus has a poor record. Tribulus terrestris is one of the most-tested ingredients in this category and controlled trials in men have repeatedly failed to show it raises testosterone. It is in a great many products anyway.

The L-citrulline malate is the ingredient here with the best-evidenced mechanism, and it is a blood-flow ingredient rather than a hormone one.

So why do we stock it

Because it is a real product from a real brand that a lot of men specifically come looking for, and we would rather you bought it from somewhere that tells you what is in it than somewhere that does not. If you want the ingredient in here with the most research behind it, buy citrulline on its own — we sell that too, and it costs less.

What this is not

This is not testosterone replacement therapy and it is not a treatment for clinically low testosterone. If you think your testosterone is low — persistent fatigue, loss of morning erections, low libido, mood changes — get a blood test. A supplement is no substitute for knowing your actual numbers, and a doctor can order that test in a morning.

Who makes it

This is a Nugenix product, made by Adaptive Health. We resell it — we did not formulate it. Any lab documentation for this product comes from them, not from us. Note that the capsule is gelatin, so it is not vegetarian.

Shipping and returns

Ships from a US facility. Free shipping on orders over $65. Unopened bottles can be returned within 30 days; we cannot take back an opened supplement.

Before you take it

Speak to your physician before starting if you take any prescription medication, have a diagnosed medical condition, or are being treated for a hormone-sensitive condition. Because this contains citrulline, take particular care if you use nitrates, blood pressure medication, blood thinners, or medication for erectile dysfunction. Not for use by anyone under 18, or if you are pregnant or nursing. Stop use and seek medical advice if you have an adverse reaction.

Have a question?

What exactly am I buying?

An LED device emitting 660nm red and 850nm near-infrared light. Not a supplement, not a medical device, and not a treatment for any condition. Its specifications are printed on this page so you can compare them against anything else you are considering.

How long before I notice anything?

People who get something out of it usually say so after several weeks of consistent sessions, not after one. Use it ten to twenty minutes per area, three to five times a week, on bare skin. If you try it twice and stop, you have not given it a fair run.

Is it safe alongside my medication?

Some medications - certain antibiotics and retinoids among them - increase sensitivity to light. If you take any, or have a photosensitive condition, ask your physician before you start. Do not look directly at the LEDs. The same caution applies if you are pregnant.

How is this different from a cheaper one?

Often it is not, and we will say so. The things that genuinely differ are whether it runs near-infrared as well as red, how many emitters it has, and how much area it covers. Those numbers are on this page. Check them against whatever else you are looking at, including devices costing several times more.

What if I change my mind?

Unopened items can be returned within 30 days. Once a device has been opened and used we cannot resell it, so we cannot take it back - which is why we would rather you read the specifications before buying than after. Full terms are in our refund policy, linked in the footer.
